Is anyone buying LCD screens?

Is anyone buying LCD screens crack or whole other wise, and when I say LCD screens, the screen itself only.

Not the base, wires, boards, or metal.

Hope I'm being clear in my description.

I have 50-100 #'s of this stuff ready to go.

No I don't know of anyone buying them but I do remove the board on the back and save them to sell. Mike.

One of the people knowledgeable about rare metals and refining said there is a rare material in the screens, but there is no system for recovering it yet. Don't remember who it was or what post.

I found out that it was the metal Indium thats in the screens. Its a conductive clear (when its thin) metal. Theres another two exotic metals in there as well.

Some people have started to save them up till theres a buyer. Either way, its not costing anything to get rid of them at a wastefill station if they get recycled.

I don't want to through these things out because of the mercury in the screens, I don't need money I just need to recycle them some how. I do however find it strange buyers on this website are excepting them as complete units, and then sending them to a refiner, somebody knows something please share!

I don't think they are sending to a refiner, i could be wrong, but there is a big resale market for them overseas and some use them as televisions. If you notice they buyers want the screens intact, if they were going to a refiner it doesnt matter what shape the screen is in.

There is no Mercury in the screen itself, it is in the florescent backlights.

I know a few of the members had mentioned that they were stockpiling till a buyer pops up.

As far as I know there is nothing hazardous in the screens themselves. As mentioned above there is a fluorescent light that should be kept intact and disposed of properly.
