Whats your magnet of choice?

I thought everyone used this, are there other magnets ?

I have no idea, just found it in the carnage of raising three kids, probably came out of a gumball type machine at the grocery store one day.

I like the telescoping magnets. I have several I got at Tractor Supply Company. Keep one in the truck, one on the iron work bench and one on the tractor fender.

I agree Mick they are nice. You can reach inside stuff and also handy for reaching in to pick up parts and such.

Mike the trick is to just start saving all your magnets! I have a theory on what happens to the ones we lose.
During the hustle and bustle of breaking down and separating our scrap the magnet clings on to a hunk of steel and thus scrapped and never to be seen again.

I keep one in the truck in the back of the truck on the bench a few above the bench along the front of the bench. Try not to get to close to the bench!

I have magnets all over the place! They are just so darn handy! For example. My lamp got knocked over,(don't ask) and the little threaded part broke off the shade bracket. I just used a small magnet and now the shade is easily adjusted to any position I want by moving the mag.

I also have a couple super strong magnets that are almost to big to mess with. These are not easy to come by! But you know the saying, "injunjoe's got a secret and he won't tell".

I use magnets from microwaves, speakers, and a couple of the telescoping type. Got 1 big azz mag. that I have no idea where it came from. Use it for cleaning up the small stuff on the floor and work benches.

I also use mine to "sweep" the floor since I got a flat IN the garage from a little bolt. I'd like to get one of those that are around 48" wide.

Maybe you can get that roofers magnet for cheap after the EPA finds that old kettle he dumped!

On a productive note,

Hard drive magnets are great! They have a mount bracket already to go.

They will hold tools on one side yet are not magnetic on the other side. This is good for riveting onto a tool belt or in a tool pouch.
Tools stick to one side but the other as to not grabbing onto your truck and stuff.


Rusty that is a handy magnet! I like the back saver handle.

If I remember right Kris Kringle, didn't you have a thread a while back about certain non-ferrous magnetic attraction?

They are never useless they can always manualy enter the numbers.
