    New Tool Thread

Lets make this thread an ongoing one, everybody show off their new tool, vehicle, or anything else that helps them scrap.

Maybe we can get it stickied if it get enough attention.

I will start, bought this black friday online thru Harbor Freight.

    2000lb ATV/Utility Winch.

    Just came yesterday.

I plan to make a universal mount for it so I can put it on my trailer for pulling heavy objects onto the trailer, mount it to the front of my garden tractor to lift the snow plow, and any other uses I may find for it.

Not a new tool, but it helps me scrap. When strapping loads to the trailer, I find the hooks don't want to behave. So I use a HD magnet to hold it in place until I can cinch it.

So now I have a new to me cordless Dewalt drill and cordless Dewalt saw.

I got these for free because the batteries wouldn't hold a charge. After searching the net for replacements I came across a video that states that you can zap life back into the batteries. I have seen people use welders for this but this guy used another battery to zap the battery. This seamed safer to me so I tried it using a deep cell battery.

It seamed to work and the batteries took a charge and held a charge, and the best thing is the tools work perfect.

Here is the video showing the process, I did it this way and it worked for me.

Used to have a saw just like that and cut aluminum with it all the time...as for the battery zap, did that too but only helped for a while.

It's funny you mentioned cutting aluminum, after I posted the reply I went out and cut some gutters down to the length the scrap yard likes, it works a help of a lot better than a sawzall.

I picked up this bad boy for $39.00 at Lowes last week. It's nice having the trigger switch and it don't bog down with it's powerful 7.5 amp motor.
I wanted a 7" but settled for the 4.5". I think the 7 would be to heavy for what I need anyway. This thing cuts like butter.

Yes but you must keep it frozen to hold an edge.

Sale at a store near me so I decided to make the trip after work and buy myself an early xmas present...

Also grabbed a 100' outdoor extension cord and a 5 pack of demolition blades.

Had one just like it, it is a work horse but isn't indestructible. They have nylon gears in them and I wound up stripping them while taking school buses apart. My fault, I pushed it to hard. Great tool and a must have for any scrapper.

I use these blades and love them.

Well unfortunately I don't have any school buses to scrap lol so that shouldn't be a problem. Figured if I wanted to try and scrap a little more seriously I need to build up my arsenal a little bit at a time. Thanks for the tip on the blades too, will keep an eye out for them.

    CM,
I have looked for these blades every place I could think of. I can't even get regular Dewalt blades at my Home Depot or Lowes. I've even looked in smaller hardware stores. Where else can I look to buy them?

My local hardware store sells them . It's name is Coles Hardware. You can get them online also, search "Dewalt fire and rescue blades" and you should come up with some leads.

The one that is selling the 25 pack for $43 is a great price. Thats only $1.75 each, I am paying $5 each at my hardware store, looks like I found my new supplier.

Sweet. Didn't know what they normally cost. I needed some new blades and went with what I knew. A 5 pack of Milwaukee Torch 9" 14 TPI. Cost around 24 and change.
