    DIY Magnetic Test Pen

I like magnets and use them in a few ways......

I thought I would show you my fancy DIY magnetic pen.

It's just an aluminum soapstone holder with a nice Neodymium magnet saved from a Genie garage door opener carriage in it. This tow ball weighs just under two pounds and the pen has no troubles lifting it up. If it was a flat hunk of steel it would lift much more. Being aluminum it's field is held towards the tip.

The pen is handy while doing my pin collecting off boards. It will give a slight pull towards stainless when others won't, great negotiating tool!

Here is a picture of the magnet. Sorry for the fuzzy picture to lazy to get the real camera out.

As you can see for it's size it packs a punch.
I make a few things with magnets. Hidden locks and such.

Cool stuff joe, but no scrapper is complete without the magnetic spider ring.

Thank you for the complements, If you like I have a large collection of photos of my gardens from over the years I could share. I know this is a scarp forum but my garden kind of fits in to this . Almost all of my tropical collection is from cuttings, scrap plant materials. I have some plants/ ferns worth hundreds but only use them as mother plants. Over the years I have learned to root almost anything.

Mind I share a few more pictures?

I carry a key chain magnet also but the pen is really neat, does it have the pocket clip so you can look like a nerd??

Unrelated, but I just moved from Central FL (Orlando) to Myrtle Beach, SC. Would move back to Orlando in a second if I didn't like the company I work for so much!
