EPA Stormwater issues

Just had an inspection from the EPA, they said my uncovered scrap containers are violating the Storm Water Contamination laws in Minnesota. I got on the internet and found a company that makes a dome shaped hard cover for Roll off containers, has anyone purchased one from them and if so do you have any feedback? the website is rolloffcover.com

Those look pretty cool, how much are they?

I'm not sure what regulations are but other ideas for covering - a used pool cover, carport tent, modify a roll-up door. Also, could you just have something that catches wastewater for treatment?

These are just some ideas that i had. Not sure how feasible they are.

the regulations on storing escrap out side are pretty strict, i dont see why a regular tarp wouldnt work, its covered and out of site so its a win-win, maybe those heavy canvas tarps like military surplus

A yard that I use has made steel covers that sit over the roll-off container and have "loops" on top so the covers can be removed by a fork truck. The yard told me that they have tried the commercial roll-off covers and they just don't hold up well.

Yeah, we have been temporarily using a tarp. But I had a foot of snow last week and that just piles up and caves it in. I tore the tarp trying to shovel the snow out and am on my second one. I thought of a big plate with fork pockets welded on, to remove with a forklift, but it would be kind of a pain to pull it off each time to gain access to the container. I did have a conversation with people at the yard who provide the containers, and they said the same thing as jbrown40004 that they just don't hold up. However, they have the biggest problem with them when they dump them. The removable one from this company would always stay on my site and never stay on the container while being dumped. I think I will try the removable style, they are $1800.00 which seems reasonable, especially with having to replace the tarps every time I rip a hole in them. I'll keep you posted.
