If you're new to the site, I believe if you'll look in the buyers threads at the prices for whole cellphones, you might find they're really not worth tearing down ; )

I will disagree with you on if Cell phones are worth breaking down Bear. I get enough in they make it just fine an worthwhile for me to break down. Like anything else once you get the hang of them, they are easy to take apart. Far as silver in mylar in the cell phone keypads...not that I know of. The mylar I've pulled from inside a cell phone is usually of the gold or copper variety. There is obviously gold and other pm's in the boards. I love opening a cell, never know what you'll find. I break down all those that can't be fixed an resold. I get them, check them over, an what can be fixed or is worth fixing I give to a buddy to do his thing with on ebay, an fix the screens. Otherwise they get sold to a cell buyer, or broken down, depending on the phone, age, issues with said phone, etc. If I can make more breaking it down I will. Boards are going anywhere from $10lb to $12.95 a lb. I've found more gold e proms an other Lil things on cell boards then anything else. It may not seem like a lot but it adds up if you get cell phones regularly. An no..I won't tell where I get mine.

I don't use a buyer from here sadly, well I guess I do, but he's not been active here on the forums for a very long time. Either way, as always...YMMV.

I had no clue about all that SSA, seems everything I've seen posted had much slimmer returns for breakdown vs whole.

I also don't see where you saw his "interests" at Mech? He only had that one post so I didn't expect he had posted in an introduction

Next batch I get in, I'll try an snap some pic's Bear, for you an others. There is some interesting things in them cell phones. You can do really well on them if your willing to take the time to find the best price. Some my buyer pays far more then scrap price, even broken. Usually the newer smart phones. Me an my buddy fix the screens on others, an resell them. He uses ebay, i go the CL route. We do pretty good on them, an what I can't/don't sell/fix get broken down an sold by the lb, or save for refining in the future.

I look at them a lot like hard drives. You can sell those on ebay, or wherever an make money, or you can break them down an get rid of them by the lb. I think their less work then a hard drive, less screws, less to remove. I like both though, an will take'm!
