Yeah, that's the stupid scrap yard I use, they won't consider that wire #1 copper. Not that that's the only thing they will cheat you on if they can get away with it. Thanks on the board as well, I haven't done any e-scrapping yet, just collecting stuff.

If you have enough then it would be beneficial to find a better yard, why does so many people go to a yard that they know screws with their prices then jump on here to complain???

They tend to be closer to the house. And most people are use to getting hit with the short end of the stick. So people think its better to take it then get on here to rant.

I look at it this way, they don't need my business that bad if they try to steal a couple of bucks worth of scrap. There's too many other yards around that want my business.

Sorry, guys I wasn't complaining, I was just showing a small amount of scrapping money. And when I talked about the yard, I was just responding to a statement from Dunemaul.

I turned in some copper that was thicker than a whole pencil and they have me #2 copper because it had a film on it.

This is why im glad i shop around and ask questions. i have yards like the ones you mentioned. i dont bring my stuff there. If you have a rail road in ur town thats the best place to look for best scrap prices. Or major shipping ports.

That's exactly the reason, when the copper has a coating on it, they don't except it as #1 copper. I suspect if it were 0 gauge copper wire, I could probably convince them to make it #1 no matter what as long as it was clean of dissimilar metal (bronze, steel aluminum, etc.).
