An old ham radio friend of mine who now lives in Illinois makes call sign plaques. He has just started making them with radio tubes in them. The tubes are not operational and he lites them with led light bulbs.

He is going to be interested in large tubes, I would guess at least 2" in diameter and a least a little taller, not including the pins.

The last picture from his web site is an example of how he uses the tube. The call sign is kf7jyo steve. He has an engraving machine that cuts glass, marble, ceramic, wood etc. I hope this can be helpful or at least interesting, Mike.

Very neat. I have around 20 3 inch in diameter tubes. They are around 8 inches tall. I dont have a HAM radio or anything, so i'm guessing i can get ahold of him through the website?

I collect the abscure vacuum tubes, but get plenty I could send your buddy. Just the other day found an old radio that used A and B battery's and had a batery eliminator on it. Ask you freind of he is into wanting one.

I've had my ham license for about 10 years and never once used it, just got it to peserve the bandwidth for those that do play.

I will give him a heads up some of you guys may be in contact with him. He is heading for a Ham Fest to promote/sell his plaques. The including the tube is a new thing for him. I asked if he had a supply of tubes for customers who don't have their own to include in the plaque. He said he would like to get some so hopefully this works out for all concerned.

Bis cut there is no code required for any class of license now. Get up with the ARRL and they will assist you with renewing your license. Also upgrading is easy and I can direct you to some very helpful web sites. For me eham.net is the very best. 73, Mike.
