I have the problem of getting rid of the glass. Locally it costs $5 per each at the land fill and no other near by commercial places to get rid of it. That is most likely why these guys are willing to give it away.

In addition my 12' X 28' shop might be a little small for this job. Mike.

How much copper will this yeild? I say around 1000 lbs.

If they are intact, and you estimate 3 lbs of copper per unit, I bet a little more than that. I guess we'd need the weight of each one right.. or would you just divide 11,000 by 3?

Have spoken to owner and am making plans to pick them up first of next week. Looks like Im gonna be busy for the next couple weeks!
the LARGE(700+) gov auctions of crts i have seen average about 45lbs per monitor with pallets. so i figured appx 225 monitors to be real safe(all my #s are on the low side just in case). that math would look something like this...
225 monitors x2.5lbs cu = 562.5 lbs #2 cu
6500lbs glass @ .08 lb (Hey Mike i found someone who buys crt glass not to far away!!!I will let you know before i make my first trip down there)
+ the low grade boards,transformers, AL shields,bits of steel,and random Stainless...should do ok after gas and other expenses.

I GOT THEM!! These were located alot closer to me than the ad said they were. It is a large company that does "clean outs" of outdated or end of life electronics and office stuff. The load was actually located about only about 70 miles away.
I contacted John and after a few calls was told that a couple people had already flaked on this deal. I now know why. I was assured that we didnt need a trailer and our 24'x7.5'x7.5' truck would hold them all.They were right, but we had to unload and hand stack SEVERAL pallets to get them all.It wasnt very fun(even less fun to unload),but we were there and they wanted them all gone so we did what we had to do to get the job done.
After we left the property owner contacted the company that we did this for and told them what we had to do and how happy he was with our speed and hard work. John contacted me and Thanked us several times and assured me that we would be the first guys he called when they got their next big job! NICE! He says that they do a lot of this kind of work and he will be able to keep us pretty busy.
I love it when putting up with a little crap and keeping my mouth shut pays off with $$$$$. I am just a part timer but have been able to keep a steady supply of scrap for these last 5years by building working relationships with poeple like this. Hard work does pay off.
