    Ripped off?

I've been selling single units of scrap which consist of 810 lbs of 316ss and about 35 lbs of 17-4. The 17-4 simply needs to be drilled out. I have always been getting the full 316ss price for the whole unit, until recently. My yard now taxes me $.10 per lb because of the 17-4. For instance, if the 316 price is $1.15/lb, I get $1.05/lb for this unit. Does this seem excessive or right on?

I think this makes the third thread you have started and I strongly encourage a forth titled "My name is..."

Yards love to find a reason to put more money in their pocket by taking it out of yours. Tons of great info on here for you to research and keep that money in your pocket.

I never said it was easy. Simple to understand, not easy to do. I don't have a lot of experience with multiple yards, which is why I was asking the question.

    Mettler-

This is pretty standard practice, and something that I regularly do when I price a client's load. You most likely ended up with a lower price "recently" due tow downgrade from your yards buyer when they discovered the 17-4 parts in your otherwise "clean" 316 load. .10/lb may seem excessive, however the yard has to consider both the labor cost for someone to clean the load + the lost man hours from having a worker doing something that is not a normal part of their job.
