Question about old video game systems

Hey guys, I have a question about old video gmae consols, Ataris and Colecovisions, etc. (sorry if this was ever brought up, i did a search and didn't find anything...)

I used to go to a junkyard to sell my scrap, however since getting into electronics/etc they don't accept any of it, so bye bye for me!

Anyway, upon talking to a scrapper friend of mine, he told me where to go, and how they grade. Motherboards, computer cards, etc are considered "A" board. TV/cheap electroics/etc boards are considered "B" boards. But he also told me, if I ever come across any Atari's or Colecovisions to take the boards out and guard them with my life, as they are considered "blue" boards and are worth a lot more than even "A" boards...

Well lo-and-behold I was offered two ataris, one Intellevision 2, and a prehistoric pong-like game which are currently in a box in my garage. I don't know if they work, and I was wondering if the claim about the boards was true...or if i should try to test them and craigslist them, or just say forget it and tear them apart...any help/advice would be appreciated...thanks...

those are interesting terms for boards. search threads about grading boards and see the various national markets. they are usually within a dollar of each other, but you have to know what you're dealing with first.

Ebay for sure. What are the Atari's (2600, etc)? and a pic of the Pong one would help.

Definately think about reselling them on eBay or elsewhere first, and feel free to post pictures on here if you can. I used to be an ebay power seller and I sold almost entirely vintage video games. Though the market has come down for them a little there is definately still good money to be had with different systems. Did you get any games? Post pictures or a list of the games too, some are worth much much more than others. If for some reason they are broken beyond resale value I'd like to see what boards are in say an Atari. Cheers!

I just had a sega and atari board. My buyer paid motherboard price for them. They arma anything special although these were out of pinball machines. I dont think they were tru console game machines. I could be wrong. Just know the board said Atari and sega on them.

Here is an article on the teardown of an Atari 2600

Here is a Field Service Manual for fixing one if you are looking to get it up and running.

Do not scrap those video games. Not very many left, and the prices are going up.

Personally, I don't like Ebay. I like buying, but not selling. As for C/L, my luck would be somebody buys them (even if listed for parts in non-op condition) and I'll get an angry phone call 2 days later because i sold them non-operational junk. I am going to do my best to test these over the weekend.

I make pretty decent money selling on ebay. I agree; it's not too fun listing and what not but the money's good, especially if you ship international. I just made $140 off an RC car I found last trash night. It's being shipped to Malaysia. All those systems should bring more on ebay than Craigslist I would think. You reach a much broader audience putting them on ebay. I've never heard of the Hanimax system; that might be the diamond in the rough right there. I found this: http://www.old-computers.com/museum/...asp?st=3&c=684 It looks like yours.

OMG !!! I cut my teeth on intelevision baseball!!!Used to stomp my big brother's arse too, hahahahahaha. that is really a nice find. I have ripped into playstations and sega cd consoles. One interesting point. Most of the controllers have gold plated contacts in them. So, if you come across non-working consoles, you can scrap them out for "A" Grade boards.

    Just a thought.

    Happy Scrapping!!!

I agree with most on here...EBAY!!! I just sold 2 broken ps2's for $40. No way will you come anywhere close to that by scrapping them. Believe me, there is a.market.

E-bay for sure. If I get my hands on any of those old machines, I will be keeping them for sure if they work.
