    question for the escrap guys

Would the ends of ribbon wire count as gold plated ends? Would the boards from servers be motherboard grade or need to be stacked in another category?I have found a few motherboards w/ gold fingers,....would they be downgraded if removed? Are the boards in lcd monitors high grade?thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

Question #1 Yes, #2 I think servers go next step higher than M.B.grade,#3 If you cut the fingers off then the board will go as mid or low grade( depending on the buyer). #4 Only if they have gold pins on the board.

that is high grade server also called telecom...this one does not have gold inlay on it but it does have two CPU's attached to it. So that will bump it up from server board to high grade server board.

This is not a "high grade server board" it is a telecom board, cleared pulled from a cabinet. This is a far cry from high grade telecom, but is worth more than server boards.

thats not true atleast for us... i think the biggest confusion with the board sorting is everyone does it a bit different. We have been dealing in boards for 7 years, so we have alot of data behind our classifications/grading.

There are certainly some areas of gray, the best you can do is find a buyer that is going to be fair, that is my best advice. We could easily sort boards into 60 categories but it isnt economically feasible.

This is why pricing on boards like this is often provided in a range.

You will need to arm yourself with as much knowledge from here as you can, and find a buyer that you can trust. In my opinion, the buyers that have a regular presence on this board are reliable, friendly buyers that you can trust. There are three off the top of my head, but won't name names at the risk of leaving someone out. Any of the regular posters on here that buy E-sacrap have plenty of good references from other members that can be found.

I will take this opportunity to thank those buyers for their contributions to this forum as long as I am on the subject.
