    Saturday at the Yard

I ran a load to the yard yesterday and it was really busy for a weekend 10 people in line. Finding stuff alongside the road wasn't working out so I bought some communication equipment at auction and broke it down. It was two metal cabinets and turned out to be 120lbs alum, 35lbs high grade boards, some RAM, 6 CPUs intel i960s two huge power supplies half a dozen fans (still braking down the copper). Only problem is prices seemed to have gone south on aluminum last month received .62 for cans .60 Alum sheet.

    Aluminum Cans .47
    Alum Irony Sheet .26
    Power Supplies .40
    Elec Breakage .10
    Circuit Boards Hi 3.40
    ICW Low Grade .66
    Processors ceramic 3.00oz
    circuit board hi PII 3.40oz
    circuit boards memory .48oz

After the yard I drove down to the waterfront near Safeco and Seahawk stadiums and watched some serious demolition of highway 99
    http://www.aribrownest.com/wp-conten...demolition.jpg
They had over 3000 people climb up the bridge deck in the rain to watch the demo and Monday morning their calling it Viadoom. I wonder where all the rebar is going?

Wow at first I read that and thought, Wow he took a half pound of cans to the yard?

I see this is price per pound, I was thinking that was the weight you brought in! Lol

    Smile half lb cans

LOL 47 cents a lb I picked up a couple lbs today. People like to drink in my neighborhood mostly 22ounce Hurricane, 4 Loko, colt 45 hi class ghetto beers. Have had folks passed out on our block face down. Sold 32lbs about half of my cans.

Someone told me the price for aluminum and aluminum cans are higher in the summer. Any truth to that? There's a guy parting out an ISP Internet Service Provider switches, routers and modems 77 pieces asking $500 I have to go take a look.

Those needles are one of the reasons I can't see jumping into a dumpster to look for stuff. Not worth the hepatitis, etc.

Alis dropped quickly lately, some smelters are up for sale & it seems theres gonna be a bit of a glut for a while.
    (I expect 10 years...!!)

Ali's $ is based on power prices.
Aluminias cheap & offset by the iron they get out of the ground along with it.
ie, they want more iron as the price is high, so they dig up more. Along with the iron, they get alumina, which gets processed into aluminum.

    Now.
Considering the amount of ali being smelted from new, the smelters that HAVE to run 24hrs a day even if they don't make $ from it & the extra Ali thats getting into the market because scrappers scrap everything & end up with lots of ali (Of my scrapmetal, about 40% of its Ali) being recycled.
The price is gonna stay low for a long time.

Our variations in the Ali $ is mostly the $ exchange rates as Ali's brought & sold in US$.
Our NZ$ weakens against the US$ & our Ali price goes up.
