My brother remodels Targets, he lives in the Twin Cities but is on the road most of the time. He's amazed how much Target wastes and has made some cash on the scrap as well. Once they get done with a major remodel of the country it just starts all over again.

I understand that, but my point is, is that they GET PAID regardless if the dumpster is empty or full.

Might not be like that, down in Texas, but it is here.

That is why, I tell my clients that they will save a CRAP LOAD OF MONEY, by just sitting it to the side, and calling me to come pick it up.

To he'll with these big companies and scrapping metal. If you took it then gj and good luck. I think you did the right thing. These people were just going to sell it back to china anyway atleast YOU will be able to better put food on the table now and spend the profits on goods you need.

Sometimes those roll offs are for recycling and the store gets paid, not charged. I would not have touched them, but if that is how you roll after being told no, well....

Here in Florida that would be considered grand theft! Just because it is a big corporation it don't make it right to do.

Dude are you wearing blinders? Not all dumpsters are for trash!!! Just because it is a big steel box often used to collect trash they are commonly used for other things.
Did you take note that they will be hauling off two EMPTY dumpsters? Were is all the trash? There isn't any! Because these dumpsters were put there for metal! Can you see were this is going?

yeah, i only did that once (questionable dumpster diving). then i decided that any dumpster that was filled with nothing but metal is clearly contracted by a yard/container service for the metal to be recycled. i will never do that again, because i felt like a thief that day, and for me, thats not a good thing to get into. i am a recovering criminal, after all...

a lot of times, guys will leave all the metal ON top of the trash so they can seperate it at another location, if you dont purposely ignore the signs, its pretty clear when that is the case.

I just hope the general contractor that did the job was able to make payroll. I would think that the scrap was figured into the bid to get the contract.

Target did not lose a dime it was the hard working contractor that it was stolen from. As he said in his post, tons and tons of it!

People wonder why all the new regulations at every turn. Well this is one example why!

I don't want this thread removed I think it should be an example!

I do wonder what investment firm he uses though. I have found a great one for him.
