Local scrap yard throwing a party!

So one of the local scrap yards here, featured in this google maps link is throwing a party for every one saturday 10am-2pm with some nice bonus's!

All scrap brought in by scrappers during that time gets a 50% increase in payout!

Free lunch for any scrapper that stops by

Also prizes through out the day.

I for one will be their first thing in the morning and get in on the action ASAP. Should be fun. Ill make sure i get lots of pics. If any one is in the area i suggest bringing your scrap.

Wow! 50% increase? I've never seen but one yard on Green Earth Day give an extra 10 cents on aluminum so 50% is awesome! too bad I dont live in NY!

    Whoa! Thats awesome!

Either they are making too much money, and being kind corporate citizens, they want to give back...LOL

Or they are LOW on stock.

Either way, will be a great day, Droz, I hope you have been hoarding your Copper, brass and alli

Have fun, look foward to the pics..

Local yards would never do anything like that. We are just lowly peons in their game.

I was curious so I called Genesee, the yard mentioned. They are having a customer appreciation day but would not confirm the 50% deal. Girl said mgmt hasn't told them yet what the deals will be and they won't know until day of the event. I hope u make out like a bandit drozenski!

I live in Rochester and have heard the radio ads too, but wasn't sure how big the bonus is. The scrap yard just was bought out by a new company and had pretty poor prices previously, I think the new owners are trying to get back on the radar of local scrappers who were turned off by low prices in the past. I called them for a quote this summer when I had a couple hundred pounds of aluminum and was quoted $.30/lb.

Well that was a let down. No extra pay i must have just miss heard the add.

Anyways. The pace was mobbed. 30 minutes in line to get to the scale and not only that they were trying some new system.

I had to bypass the scale after waiting 10 mins to turn in my Alum

Then get back in line for 30 mins to get weighed

then get back in line for 40 mins to get weighed again

Then 10 mins at the cashier

Only good part of the day was the $72 bucks i got and the free lunch. Lunch was great. I left with 9 free 24oz soda's

Would you mind posting what you got for each metal type? I was considering heading over there until I googled them and a local newspaper had ran an article that said they did this event in another town and had a half mile line of traffic waiting to get in the front gate.
