New scrapper!!! Looking for spots to find metal in NYC

Not nice replies because of the nature of it, but please if anyone would know of places in queens to scrap specifically kew gardens or NYC in general I would appreciate it!

find where the homeless hang out and follow them arround a while, they know exactly where to find scrap, and most cant cary the washer dryer or tv in their shopping cart so they just cut off the cord, the rest is yours.

dude if you don't know where to find scrap in the area you live in, how are people who don't live there supposed to know?

trial and error my friend.

cruise around on garbage night, check in dumpsters, walk through woodsy areas next to the highway or traintracks. get creative by advertising your services as a "junk remover" to local business' as a way for them to use less dumpster space (they pay to have it emptied) and save manpower (moving items to the trash), offer to pay for items via craigslist.

LOL, the timeless question, where to find scrap.

Train your eyes to look at the side of the road while your driving.

Use the Newspaper, craigslist, and freecycle to put ads and look for scrap.

Put pamphlets up on bulletin boards where ever possible.

Put a sign on your tuck advertizing your business.

Talk with construction companies, electricians, plumbers, HVAC tecs, ect. and ask to clean up their scraps.

Walk the streets and alley ways, anywhere you may think somebody may have thrown some trash out.

Go dumpster diving when possible.

Use your better judgement, imagination, and ingenuity to find the scrap that you seek.

Your in the right area when you asked the question, read this section and figure out what you want to concentrate on. In other words, do you want to e-scrap or do general stuff that contains steel? Or maybe cars,, We don't know how your set up. What you want to scrap might determine where to start looking,,,

I sometime take a drive through town on the way to work and take a different route home every night , I find pleanty out for free but then again I do it for extra cash not for a full time job.

Let me add a twist to this:

Where would a fella go to buy mixed metal scrap in large quantites in the Maryland/Pennsylvania/Virginia area? Every contact I have talked to in this are asks me to sign a long term contract first which is what my company prefers, but then they tell me that selling internationally is not worth their time because they can easily sell to American mills at market price since the mills dictate the current price.
