need advice on air chisels

Can anyone tell me if the air chisel is the best tool to punch a hole in the oil pan (trans and engine) of junk cars before the crushing.
Have anyone tried this?
Does it work?
What kind of chisel?

An air chisel would definitely do it. A straight, narrow punch type bit would work best but the wide bit would work too. An old fashioned claw hammer and a punch would do the trick too and cost less.

Thanks: air chisel cost irrelevant. We have a compressor running all the time with impact wrench for the weels and air sawzall for the catalytic.
Re: old fashion hammer and punch. Not as easy as it looks, the oil pans are made of rather thick steel so they don't get easily punctured by debris or rocks on the road or off-road.

Why not just use the drain plug that's already there?

Haven't come across a vehicle yet that had a plug on the trans. I do drain the engine from the plug. Also drained a awd transfer by drilling a hole in it. Didn't see a plug anywhere.

Victor: difficult sometimes to screw off the plug which is most of the time caulked with grease and rounded after years of oil changes!
