    Scrap metal terms and definitions

Many times folks have asked what #1 copper is, #2 copper, etc. For a relatively comprehensive list of definitions you can got to www.recycle.net for most of them. You have to be a paying member to get price quotes, but anyone can see the definitions. Once you get to the home page, go to the bottom of the page and click on one of the catagories. Example: Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling. The middle of that page will show different categories of non ferrous metals (Copper, Aluminum, Lead, etc). Once you click on one of those, it breaks is down even further, and clicking on one of these sub categories will give definitions. A good source if someone is trying to figure out what a term means.
