Wow,a reply so soon. I dont know how to ask these typs of questions.I have been tearing down computers for a while. If they cant be repaired and donated to the schools near me. I break them down as far as they will go and hope to sell the scrap metal(steel, alum and copper,) to my local scrap yard. But who do I sell the parts that containe gold to, and who is reputible, and who will pay the best.I have been reading past post about what some people are getting for these items(like crazy amounts like $67 a pound for ram memory sticks, and $97 for other gold baring items. What are some good places near west pennsylvaina or ohio

    Thanks again

You might look in the electronics recycling section of this forum. Also you might use the search it is a box for text with a magnifying glass next to it type in keywords and click on the magnifying glass.

This site lists the gold content of the different computer components you inquired about.

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/28911037/G...t-in-CPU-Chips

Thoroughly research what you have and understand its value before selling. Computer scrap prices vary widely. Check ebay and google the following – Computer scrap, cpu scrap, cpu gold, ram gold, gold recovery, hard drive scrap, motherboard scrap, gold fingers, gold pins, etc. If you don’t do your own research, someone will gladly take your gold for a low price.

What are some good places near west pennsylvaina or ohio
The best prices I have located, excluding Ebay, are in OH.

Those values aren't accurate. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars on assays...

Instead of just posting a negative general statement, perhaps releasing your own data. I know the refiners I sell to gets pretty close to what they claim on the majority of stuff.

Don't have the time right now, but at quick glance the 386/486 and pentium pro on there were low.

Here is another site with similar values.

    http://www.ozcopper.com/computer-cpu-gold-yields/

Please note that the gold price has changed and therefore the dollar amounts are low.

Until the metal content of these and other components are made available it will be impossible for people dealing with e-scrap to know whether or not they are receiving a fair price for their material.

Does that mean you are a buyer?
Can you provide any info on gold/silver/etc content of motherboards?
