    Got an interesting call today...

I wanted to see if anyone else has received this call or similar..

It's a phone number out of Northern Los Angeles Area...I live in Houston..

Apparently it's a TV show producer looking to make a show about scrappers, in a few various states.

They just asked me simple questions, such as how many jobs I did a week, what kind of jobs they were, how many people work for me etc etc..

I asked how they found me, and he said his producer gave him a list to call and find out what they're about.

Has anyone else gotten a call like this?

Yes. A few months ago. I followed up on it and it and sent an email to the producer using the website link. It was legitimate.

(edit) actually it was an email.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Let's do it. I have a buddy in College station who's in college for film producing too. What part are you in, anyways?

I my self..would not want some tv crew following me around....good way for people to find out who you deal with an your accounts...its not like you can tell them..you cant record when I am at my dealers selling my loads an you cant record me when I am at my accounts doing my pick ups....recording only at the "yard" would be a tab bit boring...wont be a tv show that ANYONE would want to watch for to long...unless you are a hard core scrapper.

lol I swear like a pirate so they would have to have the bleepity bleeping bleep bleeper going all the time ahahaha. Plus I don't want everyman and his dog going into scrapping, the people that are in it are supporting their family, don't need greedy money grabbing ba$tards taking coin away from those that really need it. Plus is will drive the prices down and then when they quit WE are left screwed, seen it with stupid people trying farming that have no idea about it, drive the prices into evil and leave once they are done!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I know that guy!!!!

NOT bs'ing. He used to live here in ID, in Star. I responded to an ad for a free fridge. He was packing up to move, and was throwing basically EVERYTHING out. Long and short of it: On our last day of helping him get stuff out, he told us what he does/did for a living. He used to have this show where they take $1, and make it more. At the end of the month, they see how much each team made. Anyway, we exchanged phone #'s. He said he's moving to LA, that he wants to start a show on a new network similar to "Fuse", about scrappers. He told me he'd be calling me and my scrap partner after he got settled in. He called me, told me he'd like to set up a time when he could fly us to LA and talk to us about staring in the show with other's.

I can't believe its actually materializing! Ill have to get ahold of him on Monday too see whats going on!

Trump should get involved here and have a special edition apprentice show with scrappers and how creative they get to recycle stuff based on market demand(MDG is considering a new product line as we speak). We would have those other so-called business men crying uncle in no time with the ideas tossed around here that you just can't teach at Harvard.

Those shows ruin EVERYTHING! I doubt there is anything you could do to stop it though, might as well make some money from it. The storage auction shows send hoards of people to run up the prices there, and the coupon show is the worst. They never mention that clearing the shelves buying 30 of a deal so that no one else can get it is just rude. Hate those shows.

Amber has a good point. The first thing I thought of was "If that show airs, everybody will be grabbing every peice of scrap they see"

Bingo. Even tho "scrappers" was a pretty worthless show, it still showed that money can be made from scrap. I wonder how many folks got the idea from watching that, and how much competition has increase due to it.

LOL I need a call from someone like that. Already this week I've scrapped a bicycle repair shop and I have a 3 car garage that was owned by demo derby enthusiasts (lightning hit it, burned it down hard), and 2 mobile homes to tear down in the next 2 weeks. I need someone to film me while I'm covered in all my dirty grimy glory and cussing like a sailor. I can't wait to torrent the show lol.

I'll definately watch it, while I'm rolling on the floor laughing. I can imagine all the Bleeps from the censors.

Dude I don't think they are serious, probably some kind of scam.. when they called I told them what i did, and had maybe 2-3 calls a week..I can't imagine them being serious about wanting to film that. Yet I too have been getting emails back.
