    old musical instruments

Anyone ever gotten a hold of old broken or worn out trumpets and trombones and such?

I see them all the time at flea markets and such, and never really thought if they'd be worth trying to pick up to scrap.

I used to play the trumpet so I can appreciate keeping working instruments in the hands of kids, but what about those that are beyond repair.

brass ones would have to be pretty cheap. Silver on the other hannd.....i picked up a beaten down silver trombone for $5 at a yard sale. That panned out fairly well.

I cant see buying a trumpet or trombone for scrap... they weight maybe 5 pounds at the most?? I almost always find instruments and have them restored before I sell them.. found a drum kit being tossed, I got the Snares and the Toms fixed and sold the kit for $450 ... got a Clarinet I found in the case being tossed... Got it fixed up for $20 sold it for $50.. theres good money in instruments.. dont just scrap em.

I would agree with Ny on this one....The market for old musical instruments is massive. With eBay and other such sites it is much easier to find buyers for such items and make some profits in the process.
