how not to make your wife happy

My soon to be wife (less than a month away) is not going to be very happy with me if she looks in the garage before Monday. I just picked up 3 pallets of HP laser printers, the big ones, can't remember the model number but they're about 3 feet square, and weigh ALOT. I didn't have time to take the trailer over to my storage unit.

How many of you try and sneak your new found treasures into the garage without being seen?

not me, but are you sure you want to marry this woman if she wouldn't understand that you didn't have time to take them to your storage unit.....she should be grateful you have a storage unit.

oh she understands, but I literally last week finally got the garage cleaned out so she could park in it again. Unfortunately due to the housing market we're stuck in our condo and stuck with a single car garage.... Can't foresee her having a need to go into the garage before I go hunting tomorrow morning.

Mine gets anxious to go through what I get to see if there is anything she can use. I use the main garage to store and prepare stuff like copper and aluminum. Besides, she likes the money that it brings in. I'd advise you and your future wife have a discussion about this and see what each others' expectations are. But, I'm in a little different situation. My main garage is two-car, 30'x40'. Then I also have a smaller, 20'x24' garage that's all mine. Both are two-story.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I would say try and break then down quickly and take her with you on a turn in day and have them give her the cash...she'll have a better understanding.

I don't have a wife to sneak goodies past. I do try to get stuff hidden as quick as I can though, to keep away prying eyes. Had a pile of scrap at my parents and when I'm out there, gypsies will stop by wanting to buy it. Of course they don't want to give much for it. I am surprised it hasn't been stolen, but now it's hidden at another location till I haul it in.

For awhile larger items had to be left outside, and smaller items were stored in a shipping container. I recently moved and now my garage is packed with scrap.

Before I moved, some stuff was kept at my brothers garage and it was beginning to piss him and his wife off.

I have scrap spread all over. I have most of it consolidated now and just sitting on it since I don't need the cash at the moment.

...and have them give her the cash...
    WHAT??

Once you teach her that she can insert herself between you and the cash source, you might as well not even bother scrapping...

Exactly. She has 3.5 acres of house, yard and garden to keep as she sees fit, and I have my shop and outdoor space. She has a thorough understanding that this is my living and sees a 5 ton load of incoming junk as next weeks paycheck. There is not and can't be any sneaking.

Mine is always asking if I got something for her to break down. She loves it. Wants me to get to the point that all I do is scrap. Likes having me around the house,go figure.

Yep mine's the same way - she's always asking if there's something to break town or tear apart or... something

I tested the limits when I went out and bought a Ford F700 box truck and put it in the driveway.

My scrap pile is called the dog house here. If it pisses off the wife that is where I sleep for two reasons: One to end the fight and second so she cannot sell it.

The tools, truck, and garage were mine to begin with.

He normally doesn't complain too awful much.

I've always thought that every man or woman needs something to do, that they enjoy doing. It bothers me when I read that some ones spouse is pissed because they are into scrapping or planting flowers for that matter. I've been scrapping for a long time and my wife has always supported me. It's paid the house note many times and since I started scrapping electronics she has started helping me.
