    Stainless vs regular steel

Hey guys, was curious what everybody's average difference between stainless and regular steel price is? I'm preparing my load for tomorrow and have a bunch if stainless and didn't know if it's more profitable to separate or just toss it in the steel pile. Thanks

If it's non-magnetic SS then by all means separate it. Regular steel is running .03 to about .06 a lb. SS usually runs about .45 to .55 a lb
Magnetic SS pays the same as regular at most yards.

Awesome, that's what I was thinking just wanted to be sure. Seems like if you take something in and tell them you aren't sure which pile it belongs in they take advantage of ya so figured I'd ask here. Thanks Mech!

I get .08 for clean steel and .45 for clean SS. Dirty SS is in the middle around .20. Best of luck to you.

There's lot of different grades of Stainless Steel. Be sure to do a little research. Some stainless is worth over $1 a lb at the yard.

Shred is at 6.5 c / lb and non-magnetic stainless is at .50 / lb steel fluctuates a lot more around here it seems. And yes I had some higher grade and got like $.90 / lb. Its usually construction grade stainless thats worth more.
