    Found a Gold Mine...But There's a Catch...

I was doing some marketing today and payed a visit to a farmer who expressed some interest in my services a few days back. He's a nice older feller who owns a pretty large chunk of land and on the front part of it, there are several structures (barn size or smaller) that are literally loaded with scrap.

It'd make anyone's mouth water just looking at it for a few seconds.

Anyway, we struck an informal deal today. But here's the dilemma: He said he let me haul off just about anything I wanted if I could tear down one of his older buildings (it's not large, but not small either). Said building is also filled with scrap, but here's the deal - I don't get on roofs or tear structures down. While I could probably rent a tractor with a big fork or something and smash it down, I don't feel like that would be something I should be doing.

So long story short, he said he'd like it done by mid-summer, so I have a little time, and I just can't pass up all that rusty gold. Should I hire someone off of Craigslist that can do the actual tear-down of the shed? If so, what would someone (who is qualified) charge per hour, labor wise?

What would ya'll do if you had the same situation? Any advice would be helpful, as I REALLY don't want to turn this job down!

    Thanks

I'd definitely outsource that, maybe if you take some pictures they could give you an estimate.

If it's old barn wood, you can find people that actually pay money for it.

Otherwise I'd put an ad on Craigslist for free barn wood. I'm betting your email will blow up. I wouldn't pay anyone to remove it.

    This.^

See if there is a reclamation business near you. Someone that buys and sells used lumber, toilets and what not. There may be one near you.

Hell if it were me, I'd wrap a chain around a support column, attach it to my truck, and gun it. But that's just me =)

Great suggestions, I do appreciate it. I forgot to mention that the building is covered/constructed with sheet metal (steel or tin?), so there isn't as much wood as a full-fledged barn. Maybe a few supports on each side and in the middle. It's pretty make-shift.

yeah if there was nothing in the way to damage i would definitely just rip it down with my truck, then seperate the wood and metal and sell accordingly.

its work... but most things that pay well are.
