depends on where you live, how much effort you put into it, and a little luck helps. It is impossible to give you an amount of what I make a week. Sometimes it is awesome, sometime it is slow. Try it one week full time, put a lot of effort into it and see what you get.

Hey Teensrapper good luck and keep at it!

Numbers are cool but I would not spend to much on software at this time, Lol, A good pen and paper should get you by for a while! Lol.

Edited to say; Thank you Admin. for removing the spam. My comment don't make much sense now. lol

Or just a Word Document. I use Quick Books Simple Start, which is free and has lots of features. You can even write checks from it.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

It started only about a month or so ago and has ramped into full time for me now. Might have a day and not do much of anything, or other days haul in 3 cars. When its slow I will strip appliances/tv's/ strip wire, etc. or better yet, search for more work!

Oh, i won't get into details too deep but I have made up to $1,000 pure profit in a day before. Obviously most days aren't like that but if I make $500 a week profit its a slow week but still better than working for "the man", however I don't honestly think i've had a week that slow yet LOL but i'd be happy to make that money VS. my alternatives (that's more than I made in 40 hrs at the machine shop I worked at, and I didn't like that really, but I love what I do now!)

I have been in the scrap business for about 2.5 years and do it on a slightly larger level than the average peddler. I have trucks, trailers, and some equipment. It is true, a lot of hard work is needed and even more luck, but if you look hard enough and are willing to go out of your way to get it, you can earn fair amounts. My business is basically a 2 man shop and we profit anywhere from $1000 - $2000 per day. This excludes the winter, where the profit is lower and we can work in -20 degree weather.

I've been going for 2 years, im a 1 man show that goes 6 days a week all day and I always make 170 a day. Not as an average, I just make at least 170 a day so I think it's pretty good. Sometimes I make 400 in a day

I could see that out of a busy small time operation. I know what we brought in, and also what we paid out at my uncles place only dealing in junk cars.

I'm a "full time scrapper". Ever since i was the wrong type of fella that they wanted workin on ranches (Ya know, the kind that work hard for decent pay and speak english). Been full timin' it for a little over 2 years now.

On a normal, steady week i will pull in about 5-$600. On a slow week MAYBE $150. Like others have said, its all about hard work and a whole lotta luck.

I'm also a one man crew.

As to the OP scraping is like any other job. How hard you work at it and if you have the drive to work hard even tho you dont have a boss over you who will "fire" you for not working.

Yes its a full time job for me. I have one person who works for me part time who will become a full time employ soon. I have to hire day labors 2 to 3 times a week for brake down.

its based on where you live. How hard you work at it. If you can think things out an when another scrapper or company is trying to push you out...you know how to push right back an keep your accounts. That one there...is the hardest thing to do.
