Computer question

I have a chance to pick up several old early 90s computers for $10 apiece.I dont know if the gold silver and copper content is about the same or not.Anyone have any ideas

If your looking to break them down for scrap motherboards and metals your probably going to lose out on that deal.

I get about a pound and a half outta each computer, I get 3.55 a pound for bare bright so that's 5.25 each computer so ud be loosing money

The older the computer, the more gold there is in it typically. Keep a box of just memory sticks, keep a box of just CPUs. Keep a box of just fingers from add-ons. Keep a box of just mother boards. Keep a box of all other boards that you have removed the fingers from. Keep a box of hard drives. These will all sell seperately on E-bay for more than the scrap value.

That is a sample. Some times the stuff does not sell. The prices for gold recovery are a bit high and I would be a seller at these prices rather than a buyer. I am gearing up for doing gold recovery myself. Log into e-bay and type computer scrap, then click completed listings on the left hand side to find these links.

Don't forget that all of the frame work will eventually fill a barrel large enough to haul in of tin/steel. If one lives in a large metro area, you may be able to find a plastic buyer. I have not found one around here yet, and storage and transport would be cost prohibitive to me.

My yard buys them by the pound untouched, but not sure of the price. I will call later when they open.

Still, all of this together does not warrant $10 each (It takes a lot of computers to get 10 pounds of memory). I have not bought any computers yet, but would probably pay $5 for a tower, nothing more from me on them.

I just called and they are paying 20 cents per pound for complete towers. So figuring 10 pounds? That is $2 I have not weighed a tower before, just guessing

Where I used to live in Huntsville, TX..There was a yard that bought everything.. Paper, glass, cardboard, plastic, metals..etc

STAY AWAY from any deal where you pay more then a $1 for a PC. It isn't worth the trouble as there a a LOT of things out there that are less time intensive that you can make more money on.
Do NOT mess with CRTs as they will cost you more in the long run to get rid of the glass [LEGALLY] then you will get back out of your metals, etc.

i got a bunch of free crt monitors i stripped the copper from them, i have a recycler here that i can drop then off free of charge, so thats not a problem for me i will be getting another load of 17 inch crt's nxt week 136 monitors for 10$, i also have a guy that buys them for $20 a pop (whole and in working condition i think he exports them...) but its a one time thing though hes looking for 300 total, so im prob just going to get them off to him as soon as i get them... make out like a bandit.
