Scrapping Question.

I have been for weeks now looking and watching heavy equipment sale way under what it would bring scrap wise.I know it would be time consuming.But do you think it would be worth buying old hevy equipment and scrapping it?

Focker - I have done it but here's some things to think about: BEFORE you bid ask about property owner conditions for removal or demo- some don't want you dismantling onsite and others could care less. Very important if you're bidding on a 20T untowable piece.
IF owner allows onsite cutting most demand "additional insured" status from your insurance and proof of workers comp coverage.
Some areas have demo companies that come recommened by a yard. They have been able to ballpark cost for me from looking at a pic with dimensions and general location. Again, this is another cost you want to get in hand before winning bid.

Also if they let you do it onsite find out if there is a deadline. A friend of mine baught a bunch of equipment after about a month of scraping the land onwer cut them off. It was either move it or lose it. They had to leave it cause of no place to take it.

I would make an attempt to find out what each piece ways before you buy it. Bring it to the yard whole you get paid "heavy torch" witch can be as low as light iron, cut it up on site you get prepared #1.. Big difference in price.

Is this dilapidated, junked equipment that no longer works?
