Research into Pentium Pro and here is what I come up with

I have been doing some research into Pentium Pro and while normally I advocate processing your own material with Pentium Pros however, my research indicates that there is no real way around it, it is just better to sell.

Typically its between 5-6 PP's that give you a pound.

Info on GRF puts the gold content in these chips at .3-.5 per lb. depending on variables like cache size, manufacturer etc.

So that means, you get 1.5-3g of gold per lb. Taking an average of 2.25g per lb, that would give you 90.67$ for a lb, more than likely less than that due to mitigating factors like losses during refining etc.

Not to mention cost of chems

It seems to be almost a no-brainer to sell them unless you got them all free. ( Hard to do being somewhat rare these days, not to mention, nothing really ever is free if you take time and gas into consideration )

Note: These are one of the things I havent processed myself yet, im sitting on a batch of 10 just waiting to get around to it, but the info from reports on GRF that I have found typically seem to be accurate. This conclusion is solely based on research.

I have noticed that, however there are some things that it seems you get a better deal out of if you process them yourself.

I wonder what would happen if you walked into the power company office and tried to pay your light bill with gold that you refined from your e-waste.

Probably the same thing as if you were to go and try and pay your bill with a couple of buckets of #1 copper

Hey your a little off on your pentium pro it's between .55 and .68 grams per chip depending on the run. The recycling company I deal with had several assayed for actual value and he was kind enough to show me the cheat sheet for weights and compositions...there's also tantalum, silver, palladium and obviously copper.

Or one could just have it toll refined, by knowing the right fella, skip all that messy chemical handling..an reap the profits in both metals, an cash.

Then again I tend to look at things simply.

I like gold, silver, an all that, an of course I love me some cash.

Does he buy them at this price? on the low end thats 23.00 each. (gold price 1323)
I would also be interested in knowing where the tantalum is in them? I doubt that there is any let alone any worth paying out on.
Also where is the Cooper at?

I would not trust this guys cheat sheets.

The litho is made from copper. Anyways, I have no reason to doubt it, you figure by the time a chip changes hands from us(the dismantler) to a buyer to a refiner with the use of chemicals and such and finally to an assayer for payout...that sounds about spot on to me.
