    Question Processors

I am sure there has a been a post or 12 on here about processors, however, I didn't see any very recent.

I was at the yard today chatting with the guy about e-waste and what they take. He informed me that they pay $3/LB for Ram and $10/LB for ceramic processors. I think he said $8/LB for green/fiber processors. My question is, would I have a better deal with selling these to the yard or taking the pins off myself and finding a buyer that way. Trying to figure in my time in removing the pins and having to hold onto these until I get enough to sell.

I understand that, just looking to see where I would get the better deal. Right now I have a coffee can that is about 1/4 of processors and 18oz of RAM.

I'm with Bear on this stuff generally. I sell to buyers on the forum. Why? Because I can compare their prices with what I can get from others and the ones I deal with have always paid me correctly and quickly. I do check what the outcome of sales on ebay but mostly they are mixed lots of cpu's. Mixed lots makes it difficult to really determine the per pound return for individual types of cpu's. So I don't blindly go ahead and sell to the buyers here I the forum.

On removing the pins this will leave you with pins that have no pedigree so if you want to sell them you may not get top dollar. As you may know inside many cpu's there are PM's. Those who process CPU's for pm's "know" what each contain if they are intact. To my way of thinking I can hold on to CPU's a "known" quantity much like bullion or other commodities. Sorry for the ramble. Mike.

Processors run from about $10lb up to $130lb. You might be OK on the cheaper ones but definitely not on the hi end ones. Just fill up a small flat rate box and ship to one of the buyers here, cost is minimal.
If you pull the pins and pitch the rest, your throwing half value away.

They are jacki g you on ram...silver ram averages $6/lb and gold ram about $13/lb or so...even at $1/lb shipping you come out ahead. Processors run $6-250/lb depending on what you have.*Unless you get comfortable with removing plated gold using acid or reverse electrolosis, dont pull pins...sell them as is or save the old ones and get them toll refined by a pro.

The p4 chips generally run $10-15/lb but you have to look to get that price. Ceramic pentium 1 chips are like $30/lb, so they are jacking people. Older chips or the gold tops run even more per pound...do your reasearch on here before giving them away like that.NEVER EVER SELL TO THE YARD BEGORE SHOPPING PRICES HERE AND ON EBAY (EWASTE)..even metals, call around to other yards just to make sure they are close.

Certainly need to look at the buyer's prices on here. Much better.

Thanks everyone. I have decided that I will be selling them on here somewhere or refining myself. I have done ok with gold fingers so far. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and be safe if you are venturing out for Black Friday deals.
