    Poison Ivy

Sigh. so, I loaded up 974 lbs of scrap metal from the top of dads property Wednesday which included a pile of mesh that had poison ivy growing up through it.

I'm wearing gloves, not a problem right?

Wrong. Woke up this morning and my arms are covered in rash. Sweating in this heat sure doesn't help it feel any better either thats for sure.

I never touched the ivy with my bare hands. I threw the gloves I wore to load it up away and used new ones to unload it.

This stuff is growing everywhere around his property in the woods and I've pulled it out of trees before with noooooo problem.

he says, ''the pallets can go to the burn pile now.''

Yeah, like that's gonna happen lol. **** pallets can stay there forever far as I'm concerned and finish rotting where they lay.

I always feel bad when someone gets the rash. luckily for me i am not allergic to poison ivy
impatients and jewel weed are some natural plants that neutralize the toxins but need to be applied sooner.

I used to be really allergic to it. I could be around it and get it. Had it so bad on my face one. It shut my right eye. Very very annoying to deal with.

Try the poison ivy scrub from the drug store! A ill pricey, but usually knocks mine out on the first scrubbing. Can't say enough good things about it! Good luck.
Today is a gift and the first day of the rest of your life. What will you do with it?

Get some ivy dry from the drug store. Works pretty good as an after treatment.

Also a good washing after exposure will prevent a lot of the problems. If you carry rubbing achohol in your truck a quick rinse and wipe with a paper towel can help alot.

I used to be allergic to it as a kid, I could catch it just by walking by. Several times I had the issue of closed eyes..gah. Oddly as I've gotten older I've become less allergic to it. Weird. But yea..it sucks.

Around here im surrounded by forest. As a kid we built forts in the woods and I have gotten posion ivy so many times back in the day it doesent affect me anymore. Nice to be able to pull it out and not get it.
One trick after you touch it is to rinse it off with running water for about 30 seconds and then use dish detergant to wash it off.

What ever you do don't pull it up and burn it. The oil will carry on the wind and if you walk thru it you will be covered in ivy.

I have been told if you burn it and inhale the smoke you can get a very bad case in your lungs. That would suck. Mike.

Duude. I feel for ya, I got into some nasty shat when I pulled my fence down at my house when we moved in... I spent the entire summer on steroids and feeling like my best option was to belt sand my body.. My doctor said "Well.. I have to say in all my years in practice- that is the worst case I have ever seen" I ended up getting it on my face, arms chest and came REAAAL close to my junk.. full on legs as well. It was actually into the sweat on my shirt and shorts and nailed me everywhere. Oy!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
