Picked up a box of old memory, few hard drives, monitors, old cell phones, ect. Going through everything and folded up inside one of the old cell phone cases is a Venezeulan 1000 Bolivares. Far as I can tell its worth about 160 USD. Even if everything else was crap its a good load, only cost 5 in gas.

It really looks like it only worth .16 not 160.00. It wouldn't even be worth converting to USD.

I had a buddy back in 1990 or so, when I was in the Navy... he went to get his haircut at the base Exchange, which was right by the Navy Federal Credit Union. He stepped out of his car, & right onto an envelope. Picked it up, and found fifty crisp new $100 bills. He went into the CU, and spoke to the branch manager, but there was no record of any $5000 cash transaction that day. He took it to the base security office, and filed a 30 day notice, and 31 days later the dough was his. BTW... he found it in mid-November & he had three kids. Was a great Christmas at his house!

My luckiest find is a single C-note... happened a few times.

It's always nice to find an unexpected bonus. That said, Auminer, your buddy did the right thing turning it in.

Back in college I worked as a part time electronics clerk at Sam's Club. My section was close to customer service so I could always hear the angry customers complaining. Well, one day I could barely pay attention to my work, because some yahoo was throwing a fit over $2,700 he lost that was supposed to be his vacation fund. He was sure he had left it outside at the gas station, and that someone must have "stolen" it. Well, sure enough, the managers pulled back the cameras, saw a club member pick a wallet up off the ground, pulled up his info from the transaction, and the cops prosecuted the man for theft.

Now, I don't know how I feel about the whole thing but all that was to say this - Be careful what you pick up. Just because it's on the ground doesn't mean it belongs to you.

I found a trumpet once.

Like, who could lose a trumpet? How could they do that? It was in a public place & it got left there.

So I took it into the police & they searched & phoned & searched & nobody claimed it.

So I got to keep it.

& sold it for $50. There was a little wear in the slide bit, but someone got a cheap trumpet.

Its worth .16USD. Yea, bit of a let down, turn out Venezuela redid their currency back in the 90s. This is an old bill where 1000 equals one of the new bills. Still kind of cool to find, but worth nothing. Win some,lose some.
