looked like alot of aluminum was sold as shred on that scooter, even as dirty aluminum your still gonna get paid like 3 times more than shred, but it really looked like there was gonna be alot of clean aluminum come out of it, prolly wouldve made another $30 for less than 1 hour of work

Yea Dirty Alum can help the $$! Pays more and you don't need to do much to it! Clean alum is the way to go and doing this you still get some dirty alum and some steel! And more Cash!

You probably could have sold the "Bow-Flex" for $100 or more.
Compared to maybe $5 to $10 Shred (that is just a guestimate of it maybe weighing 50 to 100 lbs and if prices were $200/ton)

I believe I would've tried reselling that BoFlex before scrapping it, as they're still quite popular, especially right after the holidays.

I've used TMR in largo for many years and I know for a fact that if they catch you taking pics. inside thiere gates they will bar you from the yard. I would not waste my time going to the scrap yard just for twenty bucks.

I dont waste my time for $20.00 but i like to keep my truck empty. And i drive past it 2-3 times a day.

just an idea, when we do cleanups which is rare anymore but we throw the aluminum copper brass in the back of the truck throw the shred on the trailer just to keep them separate, we only haul in the good stuff on the last day of the week kinda a reward for our efforts, that way you can still run out and get some more and still have the good stuff. your returns will multiply with very little extra work, try that for a while just to see you will be glad you did

Its your scrap your time and your money. Everyone is in a different position as far as space, ability and knowledge goes. Do it the way you do it and forget what all the rest say. All I would do if I was you is have 2 bins one for wire and one for clean copper. It ads up faster than you think.

I live in a RV park. I can't have scrap that is not in the truck or on a trailer. (I don't have a trailer yet but will have soon)
Then when i get a call i can put it in the truck strip it down. Then put the shred on the trailer. For now i have to make a lot of small trips.
As far as $490.00 is not much money. Its a lot more then i was makeing watching TV. My ss check pays my bill's i don't want a JOB i worked
for 47 years. I do want a Honda Goldwing by may 2013 an ss is not going to pay for that ! So a scrapping i will go. HAPPY HOLLYDAYS TO ALL.

How about a few trashcans with the snap down lids to put your nonferrous in?? Can put a lot of copper or alum in a trashcan

If i had a yard 1 mile from my house and an unlimited supply of scrap id be doing the exact same thing you are. We use a full size truck with an 8ft bed and a 24 ft trailer, we get 3-5 tons per load depending on what were hauling. We started small and kept putting the money back into our operation till we had enough to get the 1 ton truck and 24ft trailer. The closest yard to where were at is 25 miles one way. Making 20 loads with a pickup bed is not an option.
