HELP...huge copper coil in old T.V.

G-Day all, the other day I was breaking down an old TV. I mean one with transistors and tubes old. and inside was a steel casing, the size of a man's hand. Inside that was a 7 in diameter copper coil. Like the ones wrapped around ceramic circles in newer tv's. Unfortunately this giant sucker is encased in some sort of epoxy resin or something. Has anyone dealt with one (or 100) of these and have any advise how to clean this bastard? Cheers mates!

Those kind are generally aluminum and not copper.

Stick it in the freezer well you sleep and go at it with a big hammer in the morning the epoxy should have become brittle.

To add an addendum to dunemauls copper ice cream trick. It helps if you take it OUT of the freezer before you attack it with a hammer.

No compressor in TV's but there is a compressor in a shot FREEZER

Let your ice cream soften to a spackel like paste, Bear. Then proceed as if it were spackel. Using a spatula put on thin coats. The re-freezing process should stiffen the ice cream back up. Sand and paint as needed.
