    Cash Registers?

Has anyone ever bought any of these? If so, what's the approximate scrap/resale value of them? I may be able to score this if the price doesn't go up in the next few days, and it's across town from me. I think I can make a profit if there is over $1.50 in scrap value in them. If anyone knows whats inside one, PLEASE let me know! Thanks!

EDIT:Oh, the minimum bid right now is $25 dollars by the way.

Those are most likely going to have lower grade boards in them. They are basically giant calculators.

So low grade basically with ports on the back?

I scrapped some registers made in 1982 and they were full of high telecom grade boards with fingers and lots of ceramic ICs on them. These are newer though. Registers like these are normally networked with a main server, so there are communication boards in them, and at least something to communicate with a printer, scanner, and/or scale. See what kind of connections are on the back. Is there a server in the bunch?

If they have ports on the back then they might have decent boards in them.

Here is the back of the grey ones:

No server, just the cash registers.

I'd bet there is at least one good board in each pos terminal, and probably an extra decent one along with the lcd in each one. I've never heard of this brand before, though. I think the white ones definitely have no resale value, but you might be able to sell the newer ones. I see the cash drawers on there too, those might have some resale value.

I'd buy them. I'd probably pay up to $100 for the lot, but that's just me...I gamble sometimes. Maybe $50 would be safer.

For the resale value, I was thinking the same thing. I can make a profit if I can sell the plastic for a good price if there is no resale value.

I could be wrong, but I think the white ones are mostly steel, and will be hefty.

I'm not really sure of what the resale value is going to be. When you get into specialized equipment it could easily limit the appeal and market, but it also could drive the price if you can find a buyer. I would be limiting my price to scrap value and be comfortable about 1.00-1.25 per unit.

Auction sold today for $115, not to me. Oh, well. You win some you lose some.
