Hauled a couple loads this week.

I don't post much, but thought I would share. I got a call a couple of months ago in response to an add for batteries, the guy asked if I buy metal too. My response was that I can't buy now, because our small local yard recently closed, and I have to haul almost 200 miles to a yard. He called me back just before Thanksgiving, and told me that he had just sold his property near me, and asked if I would haul the metal off. When I met up with him to look everything over, he said he could only pay me $250 to get rid of it.
I have since hauled in 2 loads totaling just over 8,000 lbs. There is probably at least 1 more good load there. There is also a bunch of old windows, and plate glass. I called my friend that is the local woodshop teacher about it. He said he could pay me at least $200 for the plate glass.
I won't get rich, but I will do ok.

It's only $175 for cars and shred. Not enough.

More then down here in Chico Ca. $130/Shred $160 auto body and $190/ #1 steel. Where's your scrap yard? Are you in Eastern Oregon, is that why your scrap yard is so far away?

Yes, I am in Burns, Oregon. It's a long ways to anywhere from here. I usually haul to one of the yards in western Idaho.
