    Another hello, from southwestern PA

The irrationalist posted a reply to a thread I'd started several years ago on a heavy equipement forum, and it got me to wondering if there was a scrap metal forum. Darned if there isn't! Ain't Google wonderful?

Anyway, excavator most of the time, with a penchant for scrapping anything I dig up, either from the ground, or from the dumpster on the jobsite. I'm looking forward to hanging out here as well, and maybe some revenue enhancement advice, since the excavating business is just so slow right now...

Welcome ditchdigger! That motor was an awesome find, even back then.
If anybody else wants to check it out, go here.

I recognized quite a few from the Heavy Equipment forum. Most from a few years ago. Digger - I had a couple motors like that on a smaller scale last year. Scrapped them as "motors" which was about 3-4x the price of LT IRON. I had been taking motors apart for the copper, but the windings were insulated in something like tarpaper. Just wasn't worth the time and effort.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
