    Metallic Waste Statistics per Country

    Hello, i'm new to this.

I'm looking for any figures of how much metal is being disposed to scrapyards per year per country.
I mean the following situation: A man finds a firm (don't know what exactly is the name for those), turns in a tin can, earns 0.50 cents, goes away.

I need to figure out how much metal in tonnes is collected in this way by all such legal entities for any country. Any help would be appreciated.

i'd suggest google, terms such as consumption, usage, stockpiles, buyer, etc, if you get my drift. You'll find there's numerous graphs and stats, just check dates, I saw one yesterday was USAs #2 export to China was scrap metal (wondered what #1 was till I saw it dated 2007)

LOL!! Contact a market research group and ask them how much they charge for such information, not a scrap metal forum. My guess would be 50k+.

You'll get this kind of data from Government statistics departments (like Stats Canada) or from scrap metal associations. Gov't info likely is free but axccessing association info probably needs you to join their association.

Where are you located? Your name suggests you are not in North America....

Should be able to find info on exports of scrap metal listed by country I would think... My question is What are scrap metal prices for the average person in a country like China?

    Hobo,

I'm guessing that each countries price follows the spot market for their part of the world. And the small scrappers in any country, being low on the totem pole, get hosed.

The less competition, the worse the hosing. I've been quoted $55/ton from a local yard who is the only guy in a 250 mile radius...
