Just like being a Parent, it's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be. If that is the case, as it sounds like it is, you will do very well indeed and accumulate experience on a scale that you otherwise would not. I haven't read through the entire thread, but it seems to me that you are not only on the right path, but excelling at doing so.

Congrats, love seeing old buildings saved instead of being destroyed. What an amazing project to be involved in!

Thank you. It must be pointed out this was a one time deal. I am a retired educator that was on this web site at the right time. I love challenges and lucked into an opportunity. Now it is back to the ranch scrapping farm machinery. The many lessons learned on this project have already been an asset to the primary business, cleaning up farms.



Had several job offers because of this project, but they were not within my dreams or lifestyle. Still retired and flying solo.

I have been away from this project for some time, but got a call today asking me to return. The only thing left is the boiler tubes and this was subcontracted out. The sub contractor was struggling with the removal and my name was recommended as a resource. We worked out a deal for me to consult this challenge. I was asked to run the crew for three weeks, but after cancer surgery I am not sure my endurance is up to the challenge.

The challenge is boiler tube 2 inches in diameter 14 'from solid structure. The exposure is 10 stories high, roughly 150 ft. Before I left this project I purchased a 16 ft. torch to tackle this challenge. Lesson, provide a strategy without giving away the insight to succeed.

Bottom line: I am returning to Omaha to finish what I started. My longevity will be based on my value to the project. Country boy in the big city will be the real challenge.

Good for you! Every once in a while they gotta call back the old guys to show the young bucks how to make it happen!!

The trick is how to do it while not expending too much of your energy reserves each day.

Take lots of photos for us! Stay safe and don't overdo it.

The strong profit during 01-26-2014 (2014 in general ) caused such excitement for us all .
The learning curve in the day was from pure excitement of scrap value . Year 2015 only the strong with knowledge survive
