if you were interested in doing this, why not put an ad in CL in the area of the yard that is paying .80, and offer .90, see if you get any hits on that from other scrappers in the area, don't tell them what you are doing, just buy it and if you get enough to run a load up and make .62/lb, go for it. I wouldn't be trying to buy from the yard, I'd buy from the guys that are selling it to them before they got there. And you KNOW, a lot of those scrappers are vulturing the living hell outta CL anyway. It would be seen.

The bottom line is that his whole business model is a hot mess. He is trying to buy from a middle man to sell to a middle man. This just isn't going to work no matter how you look at it. You are NOT going to drive 100 miles and buy from a yard you don't know and make any kind of money selling to another yard.

If you were going to sell it to a refinery, it would be different.

If you were stripping the wire, it would be different.

As others have pointed out, to think the yards are "stupid" and can't figure out that they can sell the wire to another yard 100 miles away for 1.50# is just flawed logic. KingKopper can't even get his math right, I think the yards blow him off as another nutcase they don't want to deal with.

This whole thread is "wishful thinking" trying to make a quick buck doing no work.
