Not yet, been pretty busy.
lol, not even close. I did one yesterday. They're 500 lbs and the guy that told me to get them has them in the middle of the woods which is bogged down in mud right now. I used an angle grinder...
This is a bad idea but it would remove some competition and because they would be getting less metal they would be forced to offer more for the metal.
That tool could be improved even a little bit more. If there was a motor on the other end that clamped onto the wire and pulled it through automatically.
Wow, that sucks that it was in the ground. The frame was probably all rotted out so don't feel bad for cutting it in half. I also think you need new tires on your truck.
I just used up the last of my discs an hr or so ago. Cut those pipes I posted about a few days ago. Took two entire discs to get through one pipe. Then I had to lift each 250lb section into my truck...
Alright, going to cut 1lb and strip it. See what it weighs.
Just got a bunch of Aluminum wire. I called one of the scrap yards around here and they're offering .10 / lb with the insulation and .70 / lb without. So I think it's definitely better to just strip...

I honestly might welcome regulations like this. Not because I like regulations, but perhaps it will get rid of some of the scrappers who are just bad at their job. I enjoy the line of work we do but...
how much is a dryer motor worth? I just began cleaning out my garage for the spring and I pulled out 3 dryers, 2 washers, 1 stove and a ton of other junk that I took to the dump. I'm usually VERY...
This isn't an official government website. It's likely they're using the "gov" in their domain name to acquire some credibility. Real government websites use the .gov domain extensions which is...
I just bought a yearly dump pass to my local dump. They have a huge box for recyclable electronics and also a huge 3 story pile of random junk. Large signs saying "no scavenging" though.
Are the springs steel then? I always assumed it was cheaper shred quality.
Do you know what exactly they searched? Do you have a website?
Looks like batteries pay less. It's $7 to $11 here. I haven't scrapped other types of metals recently enough but the car prices are $310 / ton with rims on right now which is nice.
Wow, that's an excellent find. How did you get a hold of her initially?
Honestly though, I think it could be cut down a lot with less anonymity. Perhaps it would be a good idea for scrap yards to issue stickers like dumps do. Also I'd provide an incentive to become a...
Yes, there are going to being ridiculous hoops to jump through to scrap unless the people stealing the metal can be stopped through some other method.
I'd agree with Olddude, the sole fact that the people on this forum are passionate enough about their line of work that they spend their off-time talking about it shows you that this forum includes...
Introduction
Hello, I figured I'd introduce myself a bit here because it seems people have the wrong idea about me. I'm a younger businessman in my mid twenties. I've been running my own business...
What suspicions?
What are you talking about? "research for your blog".
I remember that post by Ditchdigger but there were so many opinions I wasn't sure. I've smashed them pretty hard to no avail so I think it's safe to assume they're not cast.
Why would I...
