How much does something like that cost?
...when it cost more drive to work than pay for your car and your house!!!
Absolutely and thank you for saying it...Illinois still says no to CRTs in any way shape and for I believe.
I haven't seen any new crts of any kind, but that doesn't mean they don't make them. Maybe in the medical field? You know, like heart monitors or whatever.
I don't actually know where to take them. There are some escrappers near me that will take them for a fee, but outside of that I don't know, sorry...I just thought I should share that information...
Good Morning:
I first apologize for wasting space on the server if this has been posted already. Here is the verbiage I found on the EPA website this morning when I was searching for a place to...
Cut the vehicle up in pieces and then it's not a vehicle any more. It would bring more money if you have the time to totally strip the vehicle of wire, take the engine out and recover all...
Mr. Mechanic are you trying to tell me there's no rhyme or reason to the way metal market prices fluctuate? Point taken.
Hey JBravo, got a question? Do you think this phenomenon has anything to do with the fact that "temporary" scrappers are very active in the summer, but not so active in the winter months. I call...
Congratulations!!! The first check is like a drug, now you're addicted and need rehab to quit.
Happy Scrapping
Machinist,
Congratulations on your find. Your story is not only inspirational but motivating. I have to agree, this site is absolutely awesome and the founders, moderators, contributors and...
Commodore 64, without a tape drive, too poor to get that part...do you all remember typing the code for that ping pong game, hehe?
Firebird, I have to agree, on trash days, I just have to look into at least one trash can, even when I'm driving to work in the morning, I just can't help it!!! I would prefer to not do business...
Hello Fellow Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines:
I am actually one of the rare people who served in two branches of the U.S. military. First, from 1986 (out of high school) through 1990 (my...
I spent a little time in track management for a fairly large railroad company. I would first be concerned about creosote in the ties (sounds like a tie gang has replaced a number of ties). The next...
I don't know what kind or scrapyard is around you, but to definately tell what the material is have zapped by a gun and you will know the exact composition of the material. Xray Spectrometry is what...
In the future if this occurs, ask the nearest railroad what contractor is collected there disguarded rail...then sell that rail to that contractor at the price he is paying the railroad for their...
I worked in the railroad industry some time back as an operations manager. Usually, major railroads have contracted the collection and disposal of used rail, ties, pins, bolts, anchors...etc., at a...
That's exactly the reason, when the copper has a coating on it, they don't except it as #1 copper. I suspect if it were 0 gauge copper wire, I could probably convince them to make it #1 no matter...
Sorry, guys I wasn't complaining, I was just showing a small amount of scrapping money. And when I talked about the yard, I was just responding to a statement from Dunemaul.
Yeah, that's the stupid scrap yard I use, they won't consider that wire #1 copper. Not that that's the only thing they will cheat you on if they can get away with it. Thanks on the board as well, I...
Here is just a quick video showing answer to many questions asked by new scappers like me.

I got a wooden table top for scrap one day with metal legs (two legs broken in half)...took the legs off and was left with the table top...then I looked in the corner of my metal processing facility...
I would just like to have more scrap tha required me to get a forklift that flies, hehe.
Congratulations...it's always good to hear a fellow scrapper having a good day.
