Good question Reelman. When leak checking I always start at the bottom of a joint first, because freon sinks like a rock when in air.

Most guys also have a recovery machine and some decent scales to reclaim freon.

Here in Columbus they won't allow you to turn in anything off of the sealed system part of a hvac system, unless they have your certification on file. Some of them won't deal with the compressors...
