How much are the scrap yards paying for converters lately?
Anyone know what the scrap yards are paying lately for Catalytic converters? Later model honeycomb type.
Hey, Money is money. If you don't do it it either ends up in a land fill or someone else gets the money for it.
Check to see if it works first. I found one once and the hot and cold water worked fine on it. I sold it on Craigslist for $50. That's a lot more than I would have gotten scrapping it. It never...
In my town it is legal to take stuff as long as it is on the curb. If it is in the Garbage can or Recycling bin, it is illegal to take and you can be fined.
Just talked to the guys at my yard in chicago. They said Jan 1st they will have to start issuing 1099's. This may not be a bad thing though. It might get rid of some of the competition.
I've used it for about 6 months. I've given away a couple things but have never gotten anything.
I'm sure the owner of the scrap yard I go to doesnt care. He's makking a fortune this year. He had a cadillac with the lic plate scrpman. The other day I was there and he is driving a brnd new...
My scrap yard realized there is not as much wire in them as most insulated wire. I was getting .50 a lb for christmas lights then last week they dropped it to .10
You are probably right. They are most likely copper and or brass. I have never heard of gold being used in electrical breakers. Only recently have they started using gold in electrical components...
If you use good blades, I've never had a problem with it wearing them out.
you could get a carbide blade for it but I wouldn't recommend it. You will burn through batteries and probably burn out the motor in the drill trying to cut with it. They just arent made for that...
You might. But you would probably need a very large amount. The foundrys that pay market (spot)price usually only deal in Very large amounts, Tons or multiple tons at a time.
Yes you can throw them in with the computer heat sinks.
The way I do it is cut accross it with a sawzall. You have to cut through part of the rim to get all the way throught the outter edge. Then lay the tire down flat and have someone with a car or...
I have 3 tools. A sawzall, a Cordless drill and a pair of wire snips. If you get a sawzall, DON'T buy cheep blades. You will get what you pay for. Get Milwaukee or dewalt blades. They will last 10...
The difference in price here would be .50 a lb if you don't take it off. 3.75 a lb if you do take it off. Definitely advantageous to remove it. Not sure of the best way to remove as I am not...
Got a good one yesterday. I saw an old bathtub broken in half sitting by the curb. Thought it wasfiberglass from the brown color. I stopped and holey cow!!!! It was cast iron. Weighs about 600 lbs....
Yes there is less and less of it as well as a lot more competition.
The shafts are usually aluminum on the weed eaters and the block, head, piston and pushrod are usually aluminum.
Sounds like a forecosure.
I know I always find decent setups at the flea market by my house. You can check Harbor Freight or Northern tool. They have fairly decent sets for resonable prices.( alot better price than you will...
I scrapped one once. You have the motor (around here is .15 per lb), the iron (blade, handle, etc .08 per lb) and the cord and any wires you can snip off (unstripped .50 perlb or stripped 2.50 per...
nice day's take :-)
I know scrap metals are commodities and fluctuate with damand in the market. Iron was low for a very long time then recently shot up. The other day the price dropped $20 a ton at the yard near me....
