Devo,
Very helpful. I was just looking at an odd-ball board last night.... it had the printed letters and while most were fairly obvious, a few had me stumped. You're list has given me immediate...
I will definitely do up some pictures of this.... may take a few days.
Thanks for the responses. This turned out okay, but almost all of the information initially given about the server was incorrect. It was actually an IBM I-series e-server circa early 2000's..... so...
Reasonable profit to me would be to gross 3x whatever I pay out. 1/3 goes to purchase.... 1/3 to other costs .... 1/3 net profit.
I have an opportunity today to purchase a large lot of computer e-waste material. I've got the basics covered in terms of scrapping value for desk top pc's, misc. boards, wire, etc. However there is...
I understand the concept here. It was common practice in my region during the early 1990's in regards to wood pallet recycling. ..... what the OP would be offering in exchange for the materials would...
You guys do realize that the item Ballymoss linked to is just the air separation system don't you?. Read further down in the description........"Our systems require the addition of a granulator and a...
Gold only passed the 1600 mark less than 3 months ago. There has been nothing stable about gold pricing during the past 3 months.
I think they are called slot processors. Better than high grade board - low end of CPU range.
I would think that the only scrap value here would be the gold edge fingers themselves. The board/stick itself has no circuitry. You'd have to calculate how many lbs of fingers you'd end up with once...
Possibly a fireman's tool too. A hose coupling wrench is a long brass bar with a "C" shaped end - does vaguely resemble a crow bar.
Pay attention to the contact points for the keys, pedals, etc. Some Hammond organs use a fine PGM wire for each key. I'm in the middle of tearing apart a late 1960's Lowrey organ and it's key...

You'll have to register, but it's a simple process. Check out the buy/sell sections. There are lots of active buyers for the types of PCB's...
Dumb question.... why would you need to replace a heat sink? Do they wear out?
Hmmm... automotive starters should get much better than shred price. Don't most yards have a specific /lbs price for those.... or classify them as electric motor?
A good start would be with friends and family. Almost everybody has old cell phones/computer stuff/electronics stashed away. Anyone you know recently/currently doing renovation work?.... good source...
Mick,
Found this thread while researching my marine repair source and am wondering if you ever found an effective way of removing these sleeves.
Also a poster above mentions yards allowing...
An update on this. This resolved itself in a very positive way for all concerned. After a few brief discussions we've agreed to a bin placement with weekly pick-up of ALL the scrap materials...
Hello,
I've been enjoying reading this board for a couple of months now.... lots of valuable information here. Thanks to all.
I'm located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I've...
Mick... Interesting thoughts. I hadn't really been looking at it that way.
Well. Congrats to the Bruins. Not only am I disappointed about the Canucks not winning their 1st Stanley Cup, I am very disappointed that it was such a boring game. After all the build up to game...
I'll be watching!!! I'm located in British Columbia, Canada, so will be rooting for the hometown boys. GO CANUCKS!!! Either way.... this is setting up to be a spectacular game.
I'm working on a proposal to put to a Marine Repair biz. We've already agreed to a bin placement with free pick-up for general scrap (iron, dirty aluminum, dirty copper, etc), but the biz owner would...
