i dont know what the state laws by you are, but here in ny, i have been told by more then 1 police officer that as long as the dumpster isn't locked, or marked property, regular dumpsters are a-ok...

wow, i cant believe garbage picking is even an issue in other states... 90% of my scrap comes from the garbage. really glad to live in an area of the country where pretty much every day people put...

i'd think that the most "scrap" a dentist would have would be x-ray sheets.... last i checked they were .55/lb , that was about 2 years ago though... cashed in about 200 lbs of xrays...
i do lawn sprinkler work with this guy servicing about 700 accounts... 99% suburban residential.... each season i get a decent amount of copper & brass scrap from pipes & valves that freeze and crack...
i'd think it's too beat up for resale... no visible plate, junky looking.... some corroded parts, exposed chewed up copper wire... feeling like i'll be lucky to get $2... fine by me anyway of course

whats the deal with printers / scanners? are they basically computers?
found medium sized models the other day, usually don't pick up printers, but felt i should grab them as i've been starting to...
the place i take all my scrap to pays by the lb, so i wont be tearing them down... they are all very old, covered in oil/gunk... a good portion of each one is non-ferrous, but i don't have the tools...
