Say what?
I'm scrapping a TON of vacuums and floor fans.
A thought came to me today while breaking one down:
Can I use the motors from these to make an automated wire stripper?
I saw one on YouTube, a guy...
LOLOL sounds like something my 11 year old daughter would say when she's scrapping with me.
LOLOL...ok, I'll tell 'em you send your best.
thanks for directing me to the search feature, I hadn't thought of that yet.
word up
Board sort had them listed for 10 cents a pound, but it isn't after shipping.
I get dozens of tv boards a week. I've got three 49 gallon storage containers full of them.
I'm wondering if I should:
1-leave everything on it and sell it online for 10 cents a pound
or
2-remove...
I do have a lot of time on my hands to scrap, but since I'm a newbie, I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time by collecting these items...sorry I don't know the names yet:
1-small metallic pieces...
Yeah, it feels and looks like a thin sheet of copper. But that could just be wishful thinking.
Here's a video of the board after I filed it down a bit & pulled the metal back w/ some pliers.

Thanks for explaining the bulk/tare thing.
I saw a bunch of printers in the pile...I thought you couldn't scrap printers b/c they're mostly plastic. I can get my hands on all kinds of printers to...
Can someone explain the whole "gross/tare" thing.
Does that have to do with the amount of non-metallic content I brought in?
And the results are in...

I guess it's not all about the money =)
Thanks for the info.
I have about a dozen gutted computer cases...everything's stripped off. Are those ss? I'm guessing no.
I called the scrapyard to ask if someone would be able to help me determine the difference in my stainless steel and regular steel.
She said if a magnet sticks to it, it's not stainless. I thought...
Oh, and by the way...our magnet sticks to everything in this load.
My son & I are taking our first load of scrap to the yard today.
I still don't know how to tell the difference between stainless steel, and regular steel (even though I've read numerous articles &...
The boxes I have out there? Is that gonna be a bug haven?
How do you all do it? Where do you store your stuff until you take it to the yard?
Oh, and while we're on the subject, what should I do...
I'm blessed to have a wife that isn't nagging my ear off to get all the junk outta our back yard.
She teases me about it looking like "Sandford & Son", and so do a few of our neighbors, but that's...
Dude...what a rip off!
Not only did the thief steal your wire, but they stole your relationship with your nephew.
$50 dollars worth of wire...that's so not worth losing a family member over.
Sorry...
Thanks, I don't know who's having more fun w/ all this new scrapping...my son or me! =)
He lost his magnet, so we're gonna head back to Harbor Freight today.
Do you all do a lot of shopping at HF?...
I've gotten about 30 tvs my 1st month as a scrapper. I broke them all down & separated the metal/boards. Should I have tried to sell them first?
Yeah, it was cool.
It's a neat way for me to start as a SMF-er =)
