Scrape it with a file.... Yellow or white = brass, red = copper. Check the bottom. Many times they are hallmarked with the silver plate on X or Y. Make sure not to throw sterling in with the load.
If the plate is brass, it goes as brass. If copper, it goes as copper. The brass and copper are from that buy... actually, the whole load was from that buy.

I have sold them. They are a bit of a hard sell. They will sit on the shelf a while, but I still find it hard to throw a 50ft 12 AWG cord into the scrap bin.
I use imgur.com. Seems to work well....
Sound like a whole lot of unproductive, dangerous work. Exert your efforts on something safer and more rewarding.

Okay. Thanks guys. I guess the old hacksaw the crap is the way to go.
So, I have some water heater pressure release valves. Anyone have any tricks for tearing them apart? I think in the past I have cut them apart with a hacksaw, but I was hoping for something a little...
Offer free shipping and make sure the offered sale price covers the shipping charge. Don't cut the corners so close.

ICW is probably around $1/lb. Make sure it is off the roll and turn it in as is. Whatever you do, don't burn it!
You have to beat it harder....

Someone here suggested to use the handles of bolt cutters and crack the plastic housing up close to the fulcrum of the handles. I have used this technique and it works really well.
Nice rig, cyberdan. I will have to keep that in mind if I get a bunch of wire I need to strip.
