Yesterday I took in some stuff...
40lbs of shred @ .08/lb
9lbs of batteries @ .33/lb
2lbs of #2 Copper @ $2.30/lb
Everything came out to $10.97.
Not a "Load" by any means, but it paid for...
thanks. I've already gotten the parts tracked down. All new, about $150 (Me ordering and installing everything), but if one of the parts can be found locally cheap enough, that number drops about 1/2.
Yeah, that's my truck. It's my everything.
I scrap with it, I drive it to work when applicable, it gets me anywhere I need to go...
Has even played home to me once.
You have to love deer...

I fully agree. Even if the dryer DID have a more desirable motor; The time, and effort involved in breaking it down, would've exceeded the $40 in less than 5 minutes you received. GOOD JOB!
If you...
The gold pins that fell out just buy flicking the board (Well, they're more like little TINY springs: Weighed out @2.2 grams.
No idea how much gold is in the board itself. So it's just gonna hang...
Today's take was an old HP printer (Found a ton of gold "Fingers" in it, and a high grade board), and an old service battery a buddy of mine gave me. He gets stuff through his place of work, and they...
If I had a set of torches I'd have no issues coming up; But alas, I do not have them.
However, I'll give my guesstimate at the weight: 3,800-5,500 lbs. As stated before, it all unbolts at some...
Today I went and checked out a section of roadway I'd scoped out a couple days ago. Literally 1/2 a mile away from my house.
Walking about 1/4 mile from where I parked my truck, and the 1/4 mile...
I refuse to go into people's homes to get an appliance. too much chances of something going bad, and I do NOT want to be on the short end of that stick.
I could handle paying $5 per appliance;...
I know I'm the new guy here, but I'll share my input nonetheless.
#1) No jerry rigging. Trust me. It's 1 thing to rig something together, and "Make it work" on the farm, but something on the...
Yeah; still trying to use up my old business cards from about 2 years ago.
they don't specifically say "Recycling" on them; But it has my name, and 2 contact #'s. I use Vistaprint, as they're the...
right now, my local yard (Only one in roughly 50+ miles) is paying $8.50-9.00 per 100lbs of Tin, and soda cans are roughly .65c per pound.
I don't have much money to play with, as for paying for...
My name is Wesley, am a new member here; But have scrapped as a hobby for roughly 7 years. It has always been my own personal stuff, random broken appliances given by friends, etc...
No actual...
I disagree/agree with this:
On one hand, sure I agree that loading 10+ heavy TV's is a PITA, and makes the work extra; But what's the difference in that, or lifting 1 TV per house on a single...
Check into "Doing business as" or DBA with your tax person. I'm not REALLY clear on the particulars; But as far as I know, DBA gives you a tad more protection/isolation at tax time, etc.

I got the idea off a truck forum I'm on. Instead of "What did you do to your truck today", this is just a thread for you to tell what you did in your scrapping life.
As for me, today I scrapped...
Broke down my first microwave and an old gold dot matrix Epson brand printer.
My back door looks like a mini scrapyard put into 5 gallon buckets.
Very bad idea from the get go. It may be "His" scrap, but it's YOUR truck, YOUR insurance, YOUR tires/brakes.
Retro hit the nail on the head with how our partnership works. We're clear and concise...
Retro on here gave me a 110v to 12v inverter he made from an old computer setup. Ask him how to do it; I'm sure he'll oblige.
He said the output was technically something like 11.58v (Close enough...
I think I have a doctors appointment today, and an eye appointment Friday; But otherwise free to help out.
I've been scouring EVERYWHERE for wire (One of my main focuses) and large shred items (AC...
BUT T & B had the best prices even when Mr. Metal was in. EASILY .20 more per lb on cans, consistently.
They also have a location in Louisa, and Allen, KY so we could expand; And drop the loads on...
Basically, Retro and I kinda have our "Own way of doing things" when it comes to scrapping.
We both recycle cans, etc religiously, and both will take a load of shred off for an extra few bucks.
