I've been keeping up with this thread and I can identify smd and epoxy caps but I have some I'm not quite sure about. I brought home about 800 pounds of old high grade telecom boards the other day...
You are correct. I posted this this pic because it had a lot of SMD caps on it but I also see the epoxy tantalum caps on some of the other boards I have, but not this one.
Most of what I scrap is telecom equipment and I see the epoxy and smd caps all the time. I just went out in the garage and this card was at the top of the pile.

I see these caps on telecom boards all the time and have thought about removing them but haven't so far. I'm just wondering how long it took you to remove the .78/Lb of caps.
