Thanks, everyone.
Have a lock on the coupler. I also built the walls myself with a friend and made them removable, so they can be taken off in 10-15 min. It's 18ft long, decided if I was going to...
Just got a new trailer last week, and a couple days later got a pickup for several old lawnmowers and pretty well filled up my new trailer already!
The trailer bed is 18x6.5 feet, and will be used...
The Iowa DNR is really on their butts. If they find any part of an appliance they get in trouble. some of them will accept the appliances for free(don't pay you), but they have to ship them out of...
All of the scrap yards around here will not pay for any sort of appliances: washer, drier, boiler, refrigerator, tvs, etc
Good luck with you plan. Sounds like you have a great idea, but without research it may just be a bad idea. So keep doing your research and don't be afraid to let us know what you end up finding out!
Does anybody know of anywhere around Kansas City that recycles crt tubes from televisions and computer monitors? If not I coould always take a truckload to southeast/central iowa if I'm able to find...
Hehe. A good guess. It's Brendan Moehn.
guessing by your location and name... Joseph Hoenig?
welcome to the forum! I'm actually from Fort Madison, IA. Not living there currently, but did up until a few years ago.
I'm all for helping people out and such, but most people don't realize waht it takes to run a business. they just think they're paying you for your time, but they're paying you for your time, gas,...
well.. good to know. I wish I was able to take in whole tvs and get money for it. I'd be taking in a truckload every week!
thanks for all the input. sounds like basically if it's silver on the inside then it's aluminum. if it's copper color on inside well... then it's copper.
welcome. I went to UNI in Cedar Falls and graduated last year. You should def hit up the dumpsters on move out day... I kinda regret not doing so myself
Sorry the photo's kind of blurry, but you get the idea. The one on the far right is copper. The one second to the right is not copper I think, but kind of a similar color.
I broke down several tvs this week and got a variety of different looking metals from some of them. some have copper, but others have something else. Some is green, some is red, some is yellowish....
I've gone metal detecting with my brother before, a little slow for me, but exciting when you find something cool! My biggest hobby is strongman(like on ESPN). Lifting random heavy stuff is what I...
Plus, if you stock pile I'm sure it'd be pretty easy to get a couple hundred with a full truck/trailer load.
well that's like 15 minutes away from me. I don't know how to recycle/make money off these, but I'm sure if it goes for a decent price I could figure it out by browsing this site
West Des Moine's city wide cleanup was earlier this week. Got about 1000# of random scrap, 25 tvs/monitors, bunch of random cables, couple of computer towers, working mini fridge, folding table, and...
mention all the things that are wrong with the bike and that it may not even get into working condition. mention or show him the ad for the more inexpensive one. Then lowball him, maybe 100-200....
hahaha. great solution
Saw a steel freight elevator for free, but you're supposed to remove it yourself and haul it away... kinda seems weird. If it was removed I'd jump on it, but I feel there's no way a "normal" scrapper...
also, the place I take my stuff to does not accept whole appliances and needs to be broken down to pretty much unrecognizable parts. does anybody else have this problem? is it worth it?
probably stupid question, but what do you do with the motors once you've stripped them?
